Since March 2020, dentists have started seeing more and more cracked teeth. No, Covid-19 on its own doesn't cause cracked teeth, but the resulting stress, isolation, depression, and anxiety have caused an epidemic of teeth grinding and cracked teeth.
Additionally, the hunched over posture that many of us adopt working from home can cause pinched nerves and tight muscles in the shoulder and neck area, which affects the jaw. Continued poor posture can contribute to night time teeth grinding.
Relaxation techniques, frequent work breaks, stretching, and massage can all help alleviate these problems. However, if your jaw is sore and tight every morning, and/or you have cracked teeth, you may need a night-guard to protect your teeth.
